Ranked Wars

Edited by Weav3r for scoring clarity, prep detail, and current reward notes.

Overview

A ranked war is a faction-versus-faction fight. Successful attacks earn respect. That respect feeds your faction’s war score. The first side to reach the required lead (shown in-game as the Lead Target) wins.

Not every faction wars. Casual factions exist. If you like competition and attacking with your faction, this is the structured weekly format for that.

Score vs Torn points

War UI often says “points” for the scoreboard. That is war score / lead, not the Torn points currency on the points market.

Enlist and get matched

Only faction leadership can enlist. Leaders typically register before the weekly pool closes (often cited as Tuesday ~14:00 TCT - confirm the live enlist UI). After registration closes, Torn matchmakes by size, visible rank, hidden rank, and related factors.

  • Leaders can prefer a weekday or weekend start. Preference is not a guarantee.
  • Once matched, members usually cannot join or leave until the war resolves (confirm on the current warfare screen).
  • You get an event when the opponent and countdown are set.
  • Weekday wars often start Thu-Fri; weekend wars often Saturday, timed around faction activity.

Stack energy before start

Most members: stack energy and do not train it away. Goal at go-time: 1,000 energy, drug cooldown finished, medical and booster cooldowns clear.

  1. Empty (or nearly empty) energy → Xanax (+250) → wait drug cooldown → repeat until 1,000 (four clean doses from empty if you spend nothing).
  2. Plan ~1.5-2 days / 4× Xanax to ~1000e, with extra buffer if you might overdose. OD drug cooldowns are long (~a day).
  3. Plan the last Xanax so the drug cooldown is gone before war start (budget the full ~8 hours - clean doses roll randomly in the 6-8h range; perks do not shorten drug CD).
  4. Set revives to nobody before the war unless leadership says otherwise.
  • Find targets as soon as the opponent is known. You want respect per energy. Tools like FFScouter help filter range, online status, hospital, and travel.
  • Optional: Vicodin ~1-2 hours pre-war for +25% all battle stats while active - only if leadership wants it. Same for rehab after stacking, war-mode perks, and held Mc Smoogle / refill / FHC energy.

Addiction, OD, and Switzerland rehab: Rehab. Chain timer and bonus rules: Chaining.

Read the Lead Target

At start you see a Lead Target. That is the lead the winner must hold - not a raw total either side must hit alone. Example: Lead Target 6,000 → 10,000 vs 4,000 wins (lead 6,000); 6,000 vs 3,000 does not (lead only 3,000).

  • Inside hits (enemy faction) score the war. Outside hits do not add war score; leaders may still want them to keep a chain alive.
  • Chain bonus / milestone hits generally must land inside the enemy faction.
  • Follow callouts so two people do not waste energy on one target.
  • When AFK, turtle: self-hospitalize and keep revives off. Methods: How to trade → Self-hospitalize.

Follow termed or untermed rules

Leaders may negotiate a termed war: a gentleman’s agreement on outcome, farming limits, and when to stop hard fighting. Follow your faction’s posted terms and Torn’s rules.

  • Target score / stop line - e.g. stop when the score reaches something like 4,000 vs 10,000 so the designated winner can finish.
  • Leave only - hospitalizing may be banned so both sides can keep earning.
  • Hit filters - offline only, or only within a stated stat range.
  • If leaders cannot agree, the war is untermed: fewer soft rules. Terms can still change mid-war - watch chat.

Listen to leadership

Pushes, holds, leave vs hospitalize, retal windows, travel, and energy dumps are faction calls. Missing orders can mean reduced pay or a kick.

Ride decay to the end

Hit the Lead Target margin and the war ends. In termed wars you may stop earlier at an agreed score while the official Lead Target is still higher - then the required lead decays.

  • After 24 hours without a winner, the required lead shrinks by 1% of the original Lead Target per hour.
  • Example: original lead 9,800 → about 98 lead removed per hour after the first day, until someone wins.
  • Maximum length is commonly cited around ~123 hours.

Collect rewards and pay

Both sides usually receive ranked war caches (armor / weapon caches). Winners get more. Leadership may open caches into the armory or sell them and pay members.

  • Around May 2025 Torn dropped Torn-points payouts from ranked wars and bumped cache rewards instead. Believe the live rewards panel on your war report.
  • Member pay is faction policy: hits, respect, activity floors, leadership cuts for Xanax/meds/bounties, etc.
  • Caches that hit the player market are why tools like Bunker Bucks exist. Gear basics: Ranked weapons and armor.

Casino self-exclusion locks caches

Self-exclusion blocks opening weapon/armor caches. Open or move caches before you exclude. See Casino and gambling.

Do this

  1. Confirm enlist timing and termed / untermed rules with leadership.
  2. Stack ~1.5-2 days / 4× Xanax to ~1000e; clear drug CD before go-time.
  3. Build an inside target list; set revives off.
  4. Fight on callouts; keep chain bonuses inside; turtle when AFK.
  5. After payout, open caches before any casino self-exclusion.
