Crimes

Overview

Crimes 2.0 replaced the old single-list crime page. It has been live since June 2023. Each crime is its own family with skills, outcomes, and gear. You spend nerve, grow skill, and build hidden crime experience (CE) that raises your natural nerve bar (NNB).

This page covers the shared rules and early/mid goals. Crime-by-crime routes belong to Emforus’s A Criminal Primer.

Faction OCs are separate

Solo crimes feed the skills and nerve that make Organized Crimes 2.0 seats usable. Follow faction CPR / seat rules before you join OC slots.

Learn nerve, skill, and CE

  • Nerve - spent on crimes; refills over time. Merits, faction perks, jobs, and items can raise how much you hold.
  • Skill - each crime family has its own. Doing that crime raises the skill and usually improves success.
  • Crime experience (CE) - hidden. Successful crimes (and busts) add CE. CE grows NNB, the nerve you would have before extras.
  • You never see raw CE. Watch NNB and success rates instead.
  • Getting jailed from a crime or organized crime usually burns a percent of CE. That hurt is small early and painful once NNB is high.

Pick a goal before you grind

Do not grind random crimes. Pick one job for the nerve you are about to spend:

GoalWhat you optimize
Grow NNB / CESafe success on crimes that pay CE without constant jail
Cash / dropsValue per nerve (market-priced loot)
Merits / awardsSpecific crime outcomes listed on the Awards wiki
OC seat prepSkills that match the roles your faction actually spawns

Run early and mid crime families

Exact sub-crime picks shift with your skill and the market. Use these families as a map, then open Emforus’s Primer (and the linked per-crime threads) for current routes.

  • Per-crime deep dives - Hustling, Disposal, Cracking, Burglary, Shoplifting, Bootlegging, and others are linked from the Primer and his profile.
  • Crime Profitability Index - Emforus’s sheet for value-per-nerve. Community $/nerve overlays on the crimes page pull from it.

Advanced crime routes and the profitability sheet are Emforus’s. If you use them, +1 his forum threads.

Avoid pointless CE burns

  • Do not sit on a full nerve bar forever. Spend it on purpose.
  • After a jail, ask whether that crime is still worth the CE risk at your current NNB.
  • Crime cash can be mugged. Stash it: Keeping money safe.

Do this

  1. Open Crimes and pick a goal (NNB, cash, merit, or OC prep).
  2. Start an early family (Shoplifting / Bootlegging / Hustling) until success feels reliable.
  3. Move into Burglary / Disposal / Cracking when your skill and gear catch up.
  4. Bookmark A Criminal Primer for the live route.
  5. When your faction OCs, read Organized Crimes 2.0 before you join seats.
