Lock / $1 sales mechanics drawn from Piccolo [2693254]’s forum guide (thread t=16408274), combined with TornW3B Dollar Bazaars notes.

Overview

Listing an item in your bazaar for exactly $1 triggers Torn’s $1 lock. Only some buyers can purchase that row; access is tied to the buyer’s Torn ID. Rough community estimate: about 1%-10% of players can buy each $1 listing. $1 rows do not appear on the Item Market. Hunt them on Dollar Bazaars or by opening live bazaars.

Learn the $1 lock

  • Price must be exactly $1. Other cheap prices do not use this lock.
  • Eligibility is tied to the buyer’s Torn ID. A red lock on your screen means that listing is not for you.
  • When it is open for you, it is locked for most other players.
  • Listings are bazaar-only (not on IM).
  • On stackables, if the lock opens for you, you can buy the whole stack, but some sellers may frown on this.

Hunt listings on TornW3B

  1. Open Dollar Bazaars. It aggregates all open $1 listings.
  2. Open the live bazaar from the row. A red lock in Torn does not mean the bazaar is closed; it means that $1 seat is not for your ID.
  3. If the lock is open for you, just buy it immediately. Sometimes these deals go fast.

List $1 without getting wiped

Once the bazaar is open, anyone who can unlock the $1 row can buy it, and can also buy your other stock at listed prices. The lock applies when the item is added at $1; do not list until you are ready for that traffic.

  • Do not open the bazaar until the $1 row and the rest of your prices are intentional.
  • For stackables, list only a few units at $1.
  • Use $1 as a magnet; price everything else like a normal trader (How to trade → pricing).
  • Self-hosp if the rest of your stock or expected cash is large (How to trade → self-hosp).

Do this

  1. Bookmark Dollar Bazaars and open the live bazaar before every buy.
  2. Treat a red lock as “not for your ID,” not as a broken page.
  3. If you list $1 yourself: tiny stackable qty, full prices on the rest, hosp if cash risk is real.
